A new building in Cracow is to house the City Council Archives. At the behest of the City of Cracow Commune, the Kontrapunkt Project Investment Team has completed and submitted a building project concerning the enlargement of the existing building at Na Załęczu Street 3, and its association with the newly designed storerooms.
The project foresees the renovation of an existing building which had earlier served as a school and is currently in poor condition. Following the renovation, customer service offices, official document scanning and photocopying offices, as well as archivist offices and ancillary offices will be constructed here. The large open area will ensure a feeling of comfort for all office staff. The additional building is intended for storage purposes, and archives such as official documents and documents in paper form will be kept here. These archival materials will be stored on moveable shelves.
The building of the repository will be comprised of rooms organised in seven two-storey segments, accessible from the main corridor running through the center of the structure. Built of steel sheet metal, these cubicles will be defined by their simple communicative layout and contemporary form.
Due to the specific nature of the investment task, special care is required to maintain the security of the stored documents. To ensure these needs are met, a specialised fire-safety and flood-safety system has been designed. An alarm system will safeguard the storerooms against theft and burglary.
Both the existing building, as well as the building to be erected, will be properly equipped for the use of disabled persons.
